Welcome Winona

Winona

The leadership team of 350 Montana is excited to welcome a bright and engaging new person to our organization. Winona Rachel (they/them) recently accepted the role of Climate Action Coordinator. Originally from Minnesota, Winona has hit the ground running, helping our team draft our strategic plan for 2023. An accomplished organizer and writer, they have spent the past three seasons working on small vegetable and flower farms in Western Montana. While doing so, they also found enough energy to complete their Master’s of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana. Earlier, they also earned a Bachelor’s in Sociology and Spanish from Carleton College. They have been a part of grassroots organizing around food sovereignty and pipeline resistance in both Minnesota and Montana, including working with the MN 350 affiliate in Minneapolis. Winona is also an arts and writing workshop facilitator with The Free Verse Project in mental health and juvenile detention facilities across Montana. In their free time, they enjoy baking bread, cross country skiing, and trail running. Winona’s position opened up after 350 Montana was one of three organizations offered a national capacity-building grant from the 11th Hour Foundation through the 350 Network Council.
