Faith, Science & Climate Action Conference

WHY
The Montana Faith and Environment Coalition (MFEC) will be hosting the first annual Faith, Science & Climate Action Conference (FSCA) in Bozeman, October 12 and 13, 2018. The conference will facilitate discussion among Montana faith leaders, scientists, and citizens to address climate change. Attendees will receive tools and resources to empower effective climate action.
WHO
Nationally-recognized speakers addressing FSCA include:
- The Rev. Canon Sally Bingham, one of the first faith leaders to recognize action around changing climate as a moral imperative [keynote];
- Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, an evangelical Christian and accomplished atmospheric scientist who directs the Climate Science Center at Texas Tech [webinar]; and
- Dr. Bruce Maxwell, co-director of the Institute on Ecosystems at Montana State University [presentation].
What Else
Participants are invited to attend two of the following 50 minute breakout sessions:
- Landscape Health = Human Health
- Faith-Led Advocacy: Interfaith Action for Climate Justice
- Solar Infrastructure in/on Faith Buildings & Properties
- Food Security & Environmental/ Social Justice
- Creation Cries in Eager Longing:Motivating Congregations for Change
Meals & Snacks Included
o Friday evening: registration, no-host bar, dinner with Keynote
o Saturday: Breakfast, lunch sandwich bar, & afternoon snacks
