On October 4, 2019, the U.S. State Department issued a draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for the Keystone XL Pipeline. This new SEIS resulted from Northern Plains’ successful lawsuit ruling in November of 2018. Friday Sept 27, after a week of Climate Strike activites, people from Butte, Dillon, Drummond, Missoula, and Superior descended on the NorthWestern corporate office in Butte , demanding that NorthWestern move energy generation to 100% renewables.
The amphitheater at Caras Park in was packed Saturday, Sept 20 with students from the University of Montana and Missoula High schools. They joined millions of people worldwide as part of the Global Climate Strike.
In our effort to challenge Northwestern Energy’s drive to build more fossil fuel infrastructure, 350 held noon rally at NWE’s Russell St. office. Over 100 people showed up for a talk on NWE’s damaging behavior, climate protest songs and street theater.
